Opened in 2025, the Reinhold Messner Haus at Mt Elmo/Helm is a very personal project by the world-famous extreme mountaineer Reinhold Messner. It serves as a meeting place where themes such as mountain dangers, living a slower life, silence, sustainability, tourism, and alpinism are addressed and discussed. It is housed in the former mountain station of the Helmjet cable car, which, after being decommissioned in 2020, was sustainably remodelled under the direction of architect Ulla Hell from Plasma Studio.
