How to reach Hotel Monika

Your ideal hideaway in Sexten. A place of tranquillity, inspired by nature. The location: in the middle of the Dolomites, at the entrance to the idyllic Val Fiscalina/Fischleintal valley and yet close to the action. Only a 5-minute walk to the Helmjet cable car, the Waldheim lifts, the tourist office, and the congress centre. Only a 10-minute walk to the village centre with pharmacy, grocery shops, newspaper and tobacco shop, and more. Access to the cross-country ski trail: directly from the hotel. Just like the starting point for numerous hiking and biking routes. The panorama from your arrival to your journey home: the imposing Sexten Sundial.

Arrival by car

Take the A22 Brenner motorway to the Brixen/Vahrn exit and from there continue on the SS49/E66 state road to Alta Pusteria/Hochpustertal valley. Hotel Monika is approx. 67 kilometres away from the Brixen/Vahrn motorway exit.

Another way to get here is via Lienz in East Tyrol (Austria) and the B100/E66 state road.

We recommend travelling from southern Germany via the Felbertauernstrasse road.

Arrival by train

You can reach South Tyrol from Germany, Switzerland, and Austria with the trains run by Deutsche Bahn (German railways), the Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (Swiss railways), and the Österreichische Bundesbahnen (Austrian railways) in combination with the trains of Südtiroler Bahn (South Tyrolean railways) and Trenitalia (Italian railways).

International train connections take you to Franzensfeste, where you change to the local railway line towards Innichen. The nearest station is Innichen railway station.

From Klagenfurt, travel via Lienz to Innichen and continue on the Val Pusteria/Pustertal railway line to Innichen.

Sexten can be easily reached by local bus connections from Innichen and Niederdorf.

On request, we’ll be happy to pick you up free of charge with the hotel’s e-shuttle from Innichen railway station. A pick-up service from other railway stations is possible for a fee. Please contact us in good time before your arrival.

Important information: sectional closures of the Val Pusteria/Pustertal railway line until January 2026

From December 2024 to January 2026, sections of the Val Pusteria/Pustertal railway line will be closed for construction work. A rail replacement bus service will be offered during the entire construction period.

The closures in detail:

  • Section Franzensfeste – Bruneck: closure from Sunday, 15 December 2024 to Saturday, 13 December 2025
  • Section Bruneck – Innichen: closure from Monday, 14 April 2025 to Monday, 2 June 2025
  • Section Franzensfeste – Mühlbach: closure from Sunday, 14 December 2025 to Monday, 26 January 2026

Arrival by plane

The nearest airport is situated in Bolzano, the capital city of our province (distance to Hotel Monika: 118 kilometres). It can be reached quickly and conveniently from Berlin, London, Antwerp, and other European destinations with direct flights operated by the Bolzano-based airline SkyAlps.

On request and for a fee, we’ll be happy to pick you up from Bolzano airport with the hotel’s e-shuttle. Please contact us in good time before your arrival.

Shuttle buses depart for South Tyrol several times a day from the airports of Innsbruck, Salzburg, Munich, Treviso, Venice, Verona, Bergamo, and Milano Malpensa (bookable online).
