News from the Sextener Dolomiten

In future we wish to offer you even more comfort, and for this reason between September and December 2009 we have renovated our main building! On 18^th December we have celebrated the opening of the new Wellnesshotel Monika^****s with  new superior double rooms and family suites with larch floors, high-quality furniture, large bathrooms, and balconies with mountain panoramas! Just like with the new building in 2007, this time as well we had good ideas and will surprise you with elegance and sophistication! Not only our rooms and suites are being built completely anew, the dining room also is generously  enlarged on its south side, and in the wellness area we realized a new rooms for the wellness treatments.  Hotel Monika… Wellbeing in the Dolomites!

Since spring 2010 the Wellbeing Hotel Monika is a partner of the Golfclub Pustertal. Embedded between meadows and woods at the feet of the Plan de Corones, the link is located at an altitude of 1,000 m. At the moment the course offers nine holes, as the first part of a planned 18 holes golf course. The club also offers a club house with pro shop and a golf academy for beginners and advanced players.

Guests of the partner hotels have the following advantages:

• Free introduction course every Sunday from 10 to 11 am

You enjoy a discount of 15 % also on the green fees of the golf clubs Alta Badia in Corvara and Dolomitengolf in Lienz.

It’s been official since July 2009: the Dolomites are part of the UNESCO world natural heritage! The UN organisation recognized the Dolomites as on of the “most beautiful mountain sceneries” of the world. The area of the north Italian Alps comprises 18 peaks, some of them higher than 3000 m, and is characterised by steep rocks, sharp crags, and a number of narrow and deep gorges. In the Sextener Dolomiten you undertake hikes and trekkings, and climb on the via ferratas around the Three Peaks, the peaks of the Sesto sundial, the Cima Tre Scarperi, the Croda dei Baranci, the Monte Paterno and the Baranci, or make easy walks in the Fiscalina or the Landro valley. In winter the ski centre Alta Pusteria awaits you!

From winter 2009/10 at the Wellnesshotel Monika****^s we offer you an interesting activity programme both in summer and in winter. In summer you can experience the nature around Sesto with us: hiking, biking, nordic walking, and outings to interesting places! And in addition coffee & cake afternoons, guided tours of the hotel, tastings of honey and balsamic vinegar or wine… In winter you enjoy snow shoe, winter hikes and ski outings, cardio fitness, gymnastics, and aquagym with our Wellness trainer.

Trehs – the power of mountains. We widened our range of products adding the local line Trehs to Vitaman, Ericson Laboratoire, Piroches. The Sarentino Valley, a valley with lively traditions and unspoilt countryside, lies at the heart of South Tyrol. Its special climate, clean mountain air and acid soil at an altitude of between 1600 and 2400 metres create the ideal conditions for the pinus sarentensis to develop its healing properties. The pinus sarentensis, commonly known as the ‘mountain blessing’, is one of the oldest plants used for medicinal purposes in the Sarentino Valley. The Celts exploited its healing properties and the oil is still extracted according to ancient methods. The oil with the characteristic resinous and woody fragrance revives body, mind and soul. This product, to be found in every household in the valley, promotes the circulation and has an invigorating effect. Analyses confirm a particularly high natural purity and quality.

Good news for all lovers of ski! From winter 2010/2011 the two ski areas Monte Elmo and Croda Rossa will be linked via Stiergarten! This means even more ski in Alta Pusteria! With the skipass Alta Pusteria you obviously can still use the lifts at Waldheim, Passo Monte Croce, Braies, and the ski areas of Baranci and Dobbiaco: conquer 7 ski areas with 1 single skipass!

And from the Wellnesshotel Monika^****s you can either walk to the start of the cable car Monte Elmo, or drive comfortably with our private shuttle!
