Alta Pusteria in the east of South Tyrol has lots of culture to offer… interesting and high-quality museums, churches, and special sites. Do not miss this during your holiday in South Tyrol in Sesto, the broad alpine valley in the Dolomites!

• High art at the Rudolf Stolz museum: in the two exhibition rooms over 160 works of the painter Rudolf Stolz (1874 - 1960) are displayed. The artist learnt by self-instruction, and in the first half of the 20^th century he was one of the most important Tyrolean artists together with Egger-Lienz. His favourite subjects were Madonnas.
• The Sesto nativity museum is at the Hotel Mondschein in the centre of Sesto and is set up with much love for the detail.
• Dolomythos – the wonderful world of the Dolomites: in the centre of San Candido you can look into the fascinating world of the Dolomites, with its most beautiful fossils, the world of alpine crystals, the genesis of the Dolomites and their evolution in the course of time.
• The Gustav Mahler memorial in Dobbiaco: in what used to be the Trenker farm you can visit the room in which Gustav Mahler and his wife Alma used to spend the summer months. You can also visit the Composer House in the game park, where he composed the “9^th Symphony” and the “Song of the Earth”.
• Open air museum Monte Piana: The Monte Piana and its northeast peak called Monte Piano are among the most attractive destinations of the Dolomites. The Monte Piana also is a historic site: during World War I on this plateau over 14,000 soldiers fell.
• The theme path „Around Sesto“ tells the history, the geography, the geology, and the legends of the valley.
• The meditation path leads to the chapel in the wood passing by 14 stations.
• In the 19^th century the aristocracy used to lodge at the Grand Hotel Dobbiaco. Today the former hotel is a culture and congress centre, and hosts the „Gustav Mahler weeks“ every year.
